I made an interesting brush this weekend so i thought id spend a few hours painting with it. I got about this far and now im at that point where i feel like im about to break it... ideas, anyone?
focusing on rendering the face is def the way to go, but I'd also fix the silowhette on his right arm that's holding the head. The shape is currently coscured by his hand and the head, it's some nasty forshortening. Bringing that elbow further out to his right and using subtle tone to show the form would make the shape more appealing
that, plus glowing, smoldering eyes with a well rendered face would make it pop
(slight highlight on the sharp edge of the knife could make it more menacing, as well as blood stains. Ditto on the blood for shoulder pads)
Perhaps adding some warm light coming from the lower left in front of him is casting highlights on his face to make it pop?

You could go all out batshit rendering his face and make it an epic focal point :D
